Creating Your
Site
Now
that we've gotten the basics out of the way it's time for the
exciting part: building your site. There are a few
approaches to this. If you really feel intimidated by
this, you can always hire it done for you. You can go to
someplace like www.Elance.com or www.rentacoder.com.
Both of these have people who can bid on your job and build
the entire site for you. But it is nos as hard to do
yourself if you are willing to learn a few
things.
First you will need a HTML editor. I
use one that can be found at www.coffeecup.com.
There are also a number of free resources. Just do a
search for "free HTML editor." I have found coffee cup
to work well and it costs far less than Dreamweaver or Front
Page. You might also try "123 WysiWyg Html Editor" for another
alternative. See it here: http://www.market-soft.com/123ww/
New to HTML? you don't need to be
afraid. Check out your nearest book store (online or
real) and look at "HTML for Dummies" or it's latest version.
This is not rocket science. All you really need is to
know a few HTML codes. You can also check out http://w3schools.com/.
They provide a lot of training for free. Now all you need to do is get some graphics made
for your site. Once again you will do a search for
"Graphic Designers" most times unless you want something
really complicated you can get this done for under $200.
If you are really good and advanced and know how to use
Photoshop, you can do your own. You will need a header
(goes at the top of the site), a footer (at the bottom) a
"button" that people can click for action, and anything else
that will make the site work, bullet points etc. Usually
the designer will include a background as well. A good
designer will let you download the graphics and will include a
"template" page. This will be a page that has all the
graphics on it. All you need do is go and delete
everything but the header and footer and you now have a
ready-made template for your content. now it's just a
matter of pasting in your content and making the pages
attractive.
Now is where you are going to place the
pages you wrote earlier. Start with the "index"
page. This is the first page and will link to the
others. Paste your first article here. At the end
place a link to the next page. along the side of all
your pages you will need to link to the other pages. If
your product has a banner you might place it at the top of the
page, usually the maker of the product you are promoting will
have these ready to go and all you will need to do is paste
the code in the p\appropriate place on your page. This
will also usually have your affiliate code already in
it. As the last page write a nice review of the product
with a link to the sales page. Hopefully your site will
generate enough interest in the product and the visitor will
click on the sales page and buy the product.
You have one more job to do. You
will need to make a "landing page." This is the page you
will drive traffic to and will capture lead information from
your prospects. This way you will build a list to market
to in the future. Simply build a page with copy that
will make the person want the information you are
offering. Include a "sign-up" form (more on this later)
at the bottom and you can collect their email address and can
send future offers to them. Remember one thing: SPAM is
illegal and tacky. Make sure they "opt-in" for your
information. I will cover autoresponders next
time.
This is a lot of information to throw at
you all at once. Just break it down into steps.
You can do this. Just do your homework on the places you
are weak. If you are totally lost you might check
"Create Your Website in 8 Hours or Less" for more
information.
We are almost done!! Let's move on to a
bit more about Autoresponders.
